The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS)
TAPS was founded in 1990 by Jason Hawes with the sole purpose of helping those experiencing paranormal activity by investigating its claims in a professional and confidential manner, and using the latest in paranormal research equipment and techniques. TAPS brings decades of experience in investigating with its pioneering equipment and techniques that has changed the field of paranormal investigating. Please use any of the above links to find info on TAPS. If you need help, please refer to the link on the "Contact Page" or use the TAPS Family Website Help Form to locate a particular TAPS Family team to assist you..
TAPS promises to bring professionalism, personality, and confidentiality to each case we investigate. We understand that it is tough to call someone like us, and we respect your right to privacy.
We bring recording devices to your home to capture evidence of paranormal activity, but they are only used with the homeowner's permission. We will not share or publish any of the media or any details of the case outside of the close-knit TAPS group. More sensitive cases will be dealt with by the founders and be held under the most strict confidence.
We are not amateurs. We have had extensive experience. Part of what we have learned is the psychology of making someone feel comfortable during these times of fear and uncertainty. We will bring a levelheaded and comfortable atmosphere into your home, in essence, taking care of the most important thing, your discomfort. We will then help you to understand some of the nature of the problem supplying you with the information to understand why this is happening and how little danger is actually involved. We will listen to your experiences and concerns. Then we will set up equipment and begin trying to recreate and debunk personal experiences in an attempt to find good evidence either for or against paranormal activity. We will then share our findings with you and come to a conclusion.
You are welcome to copies of any of the recorded media and our phones are open to you should you continue to need comfort or help.
We do this free of charge. We will not accept any money for this service whatsoever. Any expenses which may arise are covered by the team.
Remember, though we like to have fun, we understand the fear and the seriousness of your situation. We are after all, normal people. Heck, I don't think we even watch Star Trek. ha ha ha.
So, if you are having trouble dealing with paranormal influences in your life, contact TAPS, and we will commit to do our very best to help you.

Britt Griffith, Team Founder
Don Hicks, Team Lead
As a founding member of the TAPS West Coast Team, along side Britt Griffith, I am honored to be the TAPS WEST Team Lead for the last 3 years. I have been investigating the paranormal for about 9 years, most of them as a TAPS member. I became interested in the paranormal from an early age, because of a few personal unexplainable experiences and when the opportunity arose for me to join a team I jumped at it with Skeptical arms. I remain true to the TAPS Mentality, and understand that calling in a team such as ours to try and explain the things that go bump in the night, is no easy task. Every case we handle, whether a private home or a public location is treated with the utmost care and professionalism.
Chris Turner, Team Lead
My name is Christopher Turner and I have been on the TAPS West Coast for about 4+ awesome years. I have about 15 combined years of Industrial mechanical and electrical engineering experience coupled with some architectural and real estate background. Unfortunately growing up I never experienced firsthand paranormal or spirit activity that I can account for, thus leading me into this field as a born skeptic with a fresh outlook towards investigative / research standard practices. I joined this team because of the great leadership and value system this team follows as well as how the team always conducts their investigations / research in a scientific base analytical objective view point and of course one of the most important reasons is the fundamental mission to help and try to find answers for those who are in need.
Jerry Buteyn, Team Lead
My name is David Michael Dossett I was born In Southern California on May 30, 1969. Was raised in a military family and traveled all over the United States. I’m an Actor in Hollywood; I’ve been in many TV shows and many Movies. I’m a character Actor, so that means I play the bad guys, bikers, etc. and that's why I have the edgy tattoo look.
I am also a Paranormal investigator with “TAPS West Coast” team in Southern California and been investigating with TAPS for several years now and I have been on a lot of cases. I’ve been interested in the paranormal since I was a little kid when I lived in Virginia on a Civil war battlefield, so I grew up around paranormal activity all my life. I also recently appeared on Travel Channel's "PARANORMAL CHALLENGE". Also to be seen this season 4 of "PIT BULLS AND PAROLEES" on Animal Planet as a New cast member . Here's my IMDB credits of TV and Movies.
Ashley Troub of California was born into a life of traveling, where she would find a passion for the paranormal. From the start, she knew two things would happen in her life: She'd become a makeup artist, and she'd become a paranormal investigator. She successfully ventured into both in her teens. Her first break into the paranormal world was in Ventura, California. She was introduced her to a local team that skyrocketed her passion and love for the world of investigating. She spent the next few years working closely with the team while learning and traveling Southern California. In 2012, Ashley was offered a position to join the TAPS team on Syfy's "Ghost Hunters" as an investigator in training. She traveled with the team absorbing any and all information that she could. Ashley now spends most of her time working with the TAPS West Coast team to train and continue her education in the field, as well as spending her days on makeup when she can.
Hello my name is Alex Gutierrez, and my interest in the paranormal started long ago when I was about 12 years old. It all started with a not so shy entity that “lived” with us in a rented townhome. That’s where the spark to this paranormal fire started. Since then my interest in the unexplained as grown and so has my list of experiences. Now my curiosity stretches from ghosts and spirits, to UFO’s and Cryptozoology. Knowledge in these fields is usually a matter of opinion; experiences can lead to a more informed opinion. This is why I’m proud to be a member of one the most experienced groups in the paranormal. The style and logic behind TAPS and its scientific approach is something that meshes very well with my beliefs and traits. I’m honored to be part of this amazing crew.
Julie Muramoto, Case Manager
My name is Julie Muramoto and I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to be part of the TAPS West Coast team. I have always had a passion and interest in the paranormal and with having a few unexplainable encounters of my own it has only furthered my interest in this field. I pride myself as being a very committed, responsible and humble individual who is opened minded and sympathetic to those families in need of our services. I could not have asked for a better team of educated, professional and well versed group of investigators to learn from.
My name is Omar Sanchez, I am 22 years old and I have had an interest in the paranormal since the age of about 4. I've always been fascinated by the paranormal and the afterlife. In High School I took Docent Training at Heritage Square, in Oxnard, CA and our docent coordinator was Richard Senate. I learned a lot from Richard as far as paranormal and history. When I turned 18 I started a group called Night Dwellers Paranormal Research Society and for many years we had exclusivity over Heritage Square in Oxnard until the change of docent management. They no longer allow investigations.
I joined TAPS so that I can learn more from a such a renowned team, and so that I can further my knowledge in the paranormal. I am also the TAPS West Coast Webmaster, so if you have issues with the website or forum, just let me know. My experiences include Professional Audio and Photographic Analysis.
